The Royal Rooters Baseball League was created in the Spring of 2005 for adults residing in the Boston (and sometimes outside Boston) area. It started out as a handful of men and women playing pick-up baseball that very quickly snowballed into a four team league. In the 2006 season we expanded to 7 teams, and this upcoming season we will be looking to fill 8 teams. Each RRBL team plays up to 20 regular season games scheduled one per weekend, with league games starting in April and ending in late September. Playoffs end in early October. Games are played local to the Boston and surrounding areas.
The skill level of the players vary. On a scale from 1 to 10, the league would probably rank a 7 or 8 in competitiveness. The skill level of the RRBL may not be as high as other adult leagues, although games are always fun and competitive enough to keep you very much in the game. For you to join the RRBL, we don't expect you to be an all-star. However, we do ask that you've had some sort of baseball related experience in the past. If this is your first time playing baseball, the RRBL might not be for you. Ultimately, we leave it up to you to make that decision for yourself.
We play a real brand of wood-bat baseball with leading & stealing, that allows for strategy and adds excitement to the games. The league also keeps stats on all players and teams.
